How to give your bath a luxurious makeover

Your dream bath is more attainable than you think! Follow these steps to transform your old tub into a luxurious showpiece.

Materials you will need:

Painters Tape Blue (24 mm x 40 m)
Rustol Universal Metallic Copper (340 g)
Hammerite Metal Paint Satin Black (5 ℓ)
Rustol Tub and Tile Refinish Kit White (946 ml)
Academy Brushware Mock Mohair Roller (160 mm)

Step 1

Use 60- and 80-grit sandpaper to sand the bath. Then use finer 100-grit sandpaper to smooth the surface. Wipe off any dust or moisture.

Step 2

Put down a drop sheet to prevent your floor from being messed with paint or spray paint.

Step 3

Mask around taps, outlets and edges.

Step 4

Mix the two components of the Rustol Tub and Tile Refinish Kit together, according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Apply the first coat of paint with a mohair roller, and allow the first coat to dry.

Step 5

Apply the second coat. Let the paint cure for three days before use. Mask off tub feet with painter’s tape.

Step 6

Apply the first coat of Hammerite metal paint on the outside of the tub. Allow the first coat to dry. Apply a second coat. Let the paint cure for three days before use.
