Create a fun space for the kids to play hopscotch and draw with chalk while learning about gardening.
- 10 paving blocks
- Seedlings of your choice (get the kids to choose ones they like)
- 1 bag of pebbles
- Chalk
Step 1
Choose a flat area in the garden and pack your paving stones in a checkerboard pattern.
Step 2
Dig in compost and potting soil to fill the empty blocks in which you’d like to plant the seedlings.
Step 3
Fill the remaining blocks with 13mm marine pebbles.
Step 4
Get the kids to draw numbers for hopscotch. If they start scribbling on the pavers like young Picassos, let them explore their creativity.
Step 5
Now it’s time to revive your hopscotch skills and show the kids how this age-old skipping game works. Start with one foot on the first block and two on the second two pavers. You’ll be surprised how much fun this can be, even for adults.
