  • Drop sheet
  • Bulls Eye 123 primer – spray on
  • Lacquer Specialty spray paint – available in seven colours

Prepare

Sand your chest of drawers and wipe off the dust with a soft cloth. Remove your hardware and handles or tape well to avoid being coated in the wrong colour later. Protect your work area with your drop cloth and prime with Bulls Eye 123. Remember to shake the can for 1 minute after you hear the mixing ball begin to rattle and make sure you are set up out of direct sunlight.

Top Tip

The smoother you sand your surface the better your Lacquer will look. When it comes to cleaning your finished project – simply wipe down with a soft dry cloth.

Paint

Primer will dry in minutes and is ready to top coat in 30mins. As with the primer shake your Lacquer for 1 minute to mix the paint evenly. Hold the Lacquer Specialty can upright, 30cm from your furniture, and spray light even coats using slow steady hand motions to avoid drips and runs, slightly overlapping each stroke. Three to four light coats is better than one or two thick ones. Leave it to cure before applying the second coat within an hour or after 48 hours.

Finish

To seal the deal and for added protection against nicks and scratches – apply a coat of Lacquer clear within an hour of the final top coat drying. Reinstall your handles after 24 hours to be safe. Be careful not to scratch your paint with your screwdriver.
