Protecting pets in the garden

Animals and birds are often attracted to fertilisers – organic and inorganic, compound, single element (chelated iron), granular, and slow release.

If your furry and feathered friends spend a lot of time outdoors, remember to adjust your fertilising activities so they are safe to explore.

FERTILISING TIPS FOR ANIMAL OWNERS

Monitor your pet’s behaviour around fertilised areas.

Keep fertiliser bags tightly closed and out of reach of pets at all times.

Keep pets off fertilised areas until the fertiliser has been watered in well. Watering should dissolve most of the fertiliser particles and wash them into the lawn or soil so they are inaccessible.

Take extra care with chickens and granular fertilisers, and dogs and organic fertilisers such as Wonder Root Builder Bone Meal.

Efekto Snailban, Efekto Cutworm Bait	Observe your pet’s behaviour. If pets start to take an interest in the pellets, remove the pellets or keep pets away from baited areas until the pellets have disintegrated. Alternatively, you can place the pellets in a bait station.
Efekto Banweed MCPA, Efekto Hormoban APM, Efekto Turfweeder 457.5 SL, Efekto No Weed Lawn RTU	Keep grazing pets, dogs and cats off the lawn until the spray has dried to prevent the risk of poisoning.

Efekto Lawn Fungicide 500 EC	Keep pets off the lawn until the spray has dried. Remove lawn clippings.
Efekto Clear Up® Weed and Grass Killer, Efekto No Weed Lawn RTU	Keep pets off treated areas until the spray has dried.
Efekto Cypermethrin 200 EC, Efekto Plant Protector	Keep pets away from treated plants until the spray has dried. Keep pets off the lawn until after the product has been watered in. After mowing, remove lawn clippings.
