Fired Earth Chalk Paint works on fabric too, even upholstery. Here’s how to do it.

Step 1
Paint the entire chair, fabric and wood, with two coats of chalk paint, letting it dry between coats. To shake things up a little we didn’t paint all the chairs the same colour. We used Gaulois Grey for some chairs and Larva for others.
Top Tip: Some fabrics will be easier to paint than others. Velvet for instance requires three to four thick coats, while other fabrics may only require two.

Step 2
Once the paint has dried, seal it with a thin layer of soft clear wax. Apply a second thin coat of wax then wait eight to 12 hours before buffing to a soft sheen. Clear wax changes the colour of chalk paint slightly, giving it a deeper, more lustrous appearance.
